SOLUTION-FOCUSED INTERVIEWING -
IDEAL FOR PSYCHOLOGICAL COACHING
Solution-focused interviewing comes from solution-focused short-term therapy according to Steve de Shazer and Insoo Kim Berg. It is based on the assumption that the client already has the solution within him or herself. The coach's task is to make the client aware of this.
Instead of analysing problems and determining treatment steps, the coach works towards the solution from the very beginning. The method even goes so far that the coach does not need to know the problem. In this way, clients achieve very good solutions in just a few sessions. Often a single session is enough for this.
The client can learn the way to approach a problem very quickly.
This method is always part of the preliminary talk for the other methods. But it can also be used on its own. I personally prefer to take a walk with the client.
